Independent Film in the Land of Waterfalls

pisgah film project

Pisgah Film Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sparking more conversations about film in our community.  We do this through a variety of means, the primary one being our bi-monthly screenings of independent first-run films.  There, you’ll find a curated assortment of narrative, documentary and foreign films, and those screenings are typically Sunday afternoons and evenings at the DFR Room in downtown Brevard.  Check back here to see what’s playing.  Check out www.pisgahfilmproject.com/

But our goal is so much bigger than just these first-run films.  We’re working on other ways to bring a wider range of films to a wider range of Brevard’s citizenry.  Stay tuned for news about upcoming series in Brevard and beyond!

Mission and Philosophy

If you’re reading this, you probably already agree with me on this: film is art. When it’s done well, it can be both a work of art and a force for good. It entertains while it challenges. Through film, we can learn empathy and respect, and through it we can experience the full range of human emotions.

Like other media of the performing arts, it is a distinctly collaborative artform; no ONE person can successfully bring a film to life (of course, a few historical exceptions here).  Films are created by a community, and we believe they are likewise best experienced in a community setting.

Our mission is to generate conversations in western North Carolina about film as an artform, as a means for storytelling, and as an engine for understanding.  Please come be a part of our film-passionate community!
